Opening Morning Prayer…
Guided Prayers
A short prayer to begin the day — a psalm, a brief reading, intercessions, and the Our Father. There is one for each day of the week.
Opening
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
We begin this day slowly, and we bring the whole week with us — its gifts and its failures alike.
Psalm
Psalm 149 · NABRE
Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in its maker, the people of Zion rejoice in their king.
Let them praise his name in dance, make music with tambourine and lyre.
For the LORD takes delight in his people, honors the poor with victory.
Let the faithful rejoice in their glory, cry out for joy on their couches,
With the praise of God in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hands,
To bring retribution on the nations, punishment on the peoples,
To bind their kings in shackles, their nobles in chains of iron,
To execute the judgments decreed for them— such is the glory of all God’s faithful. Hallelujah!
Reading
Romans 12:12 · NABRE
Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.
Intercessions
For rest today that restores and does not waste: teach us how to stop.
For our beloved dead: give them eternal rest, and let light perpetual shine on them.
For families spending this day together: make it gentle and glad.
For Our Lady, who pondered everything in her heart: teach us to ponder too.
Lord, hear our prayer.
The Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Tomorrow morning, the next day's prayer will be here. Back to Pray.
