Opening Morning Prayer…
Guided Prayers
A short prayer to begin the day — a psalm, a brief reading, intercessions, and the Our Father. There is one for each day of the week.
Opening
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
This is the Lord’s day, the first day of the week; we come to him before anything else asks for us.
Psalm
Psalm 118:19–24 · NABRE
Open the gates of righteousness; I will enter and thank the LORD.
This is the LORD’s own gate, through it the righteous enter.
I thank you for you answered me; you have been my savior.
The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
By the LORD has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes.
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad.
Reading
Lamentations 3:22–24 · NABRE
The LORD’s acts of mercy are not exhausted, his compassion is not spent; They are renewed each morning— great is your faithfulness! The LORD is my portion, I tell myself, therefore I will hope in him.
Intercessions
For the Church gathered today in every place: that our worship be honest and our hearts awake.
For those who cannot be at Mass today — the sick, the traveling, the ones who work: be near them, Lord.
For our parish and its priests: bless their ministry and give them joy in it.
For a heart that keeps this day holy: teach us to rest without guilt and to delight in you.
Lord, hear our prayer.
The Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Tomorrow morning, the next day's prayer will be here. Back to Pray.
